Belize / July 2018

This was our year in Belize. Andie asked me to bring my camera and take her senior pictures, but the humid, tropical weather fogged up my lens and we ended up taking photos with our phones. My favorite memories from this year: watching Alex vigorously stab lobsters in the middle of the ocean and lob them, one by one, onto the boat until her total was up to 29, sweet corn ice cream that we wouldn't have tried unless the man behind us had suggested it, meat loaf written in graffiti on a wall that we passed by on the golf cart, an eel poking his head out of his underwater home, the hot, humid photo shoot we had where we ended, sweating, in front of a white wall in our condo, Big Joe the iguana, three amigos with two guacamoles and one bean, cassava chips, Ben winning the chicken drop and us rejoicing like we won the lottery, mojitos, eating mayan breakfast for two meals, reading a book in a chair, by the pool, in the hammock, yellow coconut curry with raisins, freckles, riding bikes through town, seeing manatees in the wild, calm and unbothered by humans being so close.
